3G Rumor. Dec 6th?

Anyone else heard this rumor? It's making it's rounds on the blogs. Any T-Mobile employees heard anything about an 3G being announced next month?
 
Been hearing about this rumor from all the tech sites- Boy Genius, Engadget, Gizmodo, etc

Im praying to sweet baby jeezuz that this is real.

What are the odds that Blackberry will release a 8*** series phone ready for TMO the next day? LMAO
 
This is the info I am getting from my rep...

" We have committed to 3G services. We are building our network as we speak.

When we transmit 3G UMTS signal depends on the FCC who will give us a green light after the spectrum is cleared.

The launch will be phased and in different markets. No other announcements have been made."
 
So if the rumor is true and T-Mobile goes to 3G in December or sometime in the beginning of 2008 would my current 8320 Curve benefit from it or would it stay on EDGE and I would have to buy a new phone to use the 3G network?
 
Moreover, if one got a new 3G phone, would one be screwed if they happened to travel to a not-yet "phased in different market"?
 
i work for t-mobile, but in the UK we're on hsdpa now, 3.6mb mobile broadband....... still no support on blackberry though. still who cares BB's are the best..... i'd rather have my curve in my pocket over my n95 or vario 3
