Hello,

I was going to see a 3D Imax show with a few of my frienRAB buy one of them is blind in the right or left eye I cant remember. Since they dont use the red, cyan glasses any more and now use the sun glass type will he be able to see the full 3d effect or will it still look as bad as the old glasses.

Thank you,

Neil

I'm no expert on these things, but due to his blindness in one eye I doubt he'd get any 3d effect at all.

In fact, I don't think people who've lost the use of sight in one eye have any peripheral vision ?

Maybe someone can correct me or back this up with some actual medical knowledge ?

Thanks for the replys. It's just I remember going to a 3D imax before, closing one and still been able to see a fairly good 3D image. Does it work this way with half blinded people?

Thanks

You can see 3D with one eye but not with Imax 3D or any other 3D process.
As 3D is created by the brain from the visual info it receives, it can be tricked into seeing depth which isn't really there, even in a 2D image.
I don't recommend this technique for extended (or dignified) viewing but it does work, with either tv or movie screens: if you make a tunnel from your hand, look through it with one eye, keeping the other eye closed and ensuring (this is vital) that the screen edges are not within the field of view, the image you see will be 3D and when it contains movement, the effect will be striking.
Because the eye can see nothing else, the brain is fooled into thinking it's seeing the real world and gives it the depth it thinks it should have.
You wouldn't want to watch a feature film like this but as a treat for the eye it's ok and someone with one eye will probably be amazed (or they'll think you're barmy). :)

I have just contacted IMAX and they said currently you need two eyes to experience 3D but in the future it may improve. However I am sure i got the effect with my eye closed, has any one else had this experience.

Thank You
