3D - Anyone agrees it makes the film worse

Saw my first film in 3D today - Toy Story 3, and while the movie was brilliant, i hated the 3D, seriously, in what way is this worth the extra cash?

It makes it worse for me because it gives me a headache and nausea, so no, not a fan of 3D. But then most cinemas give a choice of seeing it in 2D too, so not complaining.

It doesn't make a difference to the movie personally. Even Avatar in 3d wasn't enough to write home about. It's knowing that if people see 3D next to any movie, it will help sell the movie. A great marketing ploy.

I know what you mean, Toy Story 3 was brilliant but I dont think the 3D added much.
Now it seems as if every new release is made in 3D

I saw a trailer for some 3-D film about some 'element catcher kid' or something yesterday. I honestly thought right up until the end (when there was the confirmatory 'credits' shot) that it was actually just an elaborate advert for a computer game.

Agree about Toy Story, it wasn't really necessary in that film, but in others it adRAB something more to it. Like in Monsters vs Aliens which was made for 3D.

It all depenRAB on the film whether 3D is worth it or not.

A list of films I think 3D was used well:

Avatar
Monsters vs Aliens
My Bloody Valentine
Final Destination 4
Up
A Christmas Carol

Films that didn't really need 3D or made very little impact in 3D

Toy Story 3
Alice in Wonderland

That's out of the ones I've seen (only had to pay for the 2 of them lol, otherwise I wouldn't have seen as many!)

I know I've seen more 3D films but can't remember them lol.

I think it depenRAB on the film to be honest..

Coraline and the recent Final Destination IMO both used the 3D really well, and made the film more interesting. (I hated the FD film though, but the 3D was well used..to be fair).
But when my cousin went to see Avatar in 3D with her boyfriend, it just annoyed them, it took their attention away from the film.

I haven't seen Toy Story in 3D yet, so I'll reserve judgement..but I'd imagine it'd be like Coraline, in terms of the 3D effect.

Unfortunately my nearest cinema has very limited showings for 2D screenings in comparison.

I'm not a big fan of 3D tbh.

Sometimes it works - I think Avatar would have been significantly less watchable without it - but other times it's unnecessary and distracting.

And it seems like every second film is being released in 3D now.

I agree totally, wouldn't go to a 3D unless it was something I wanted to see that was only available that way. I spend the whole time taking the glasses off and comparing! Lol

I saw toy story in 3D today (not my choice, wish I hadn't as it cost more and wasn't worth it!) there was one part that only felt like it was in 3D. the rest wouldn't have been any different watching it in 2D. The film however, was very good. :)

I dont see the point in it to be honest. first 3d movie I saw was spy kiRAB which was the crappy red and blue lense one then the next one i saw was final destination 4 and wasnt expectng much but I actually ducked at one point! it's ok for some movies but when its done for movies where not much pops out it doesnt make much difference in my eyes :/
