3100 pc connectivity

i purchased nokia 3100. i want to connect to pc. so purchased dku-5 cable , usb port. The following sequence done but pc not reganise the phone.
1) cable driver install without connceting phone as per instruction.
2) now pc suite installed phone connceted in usb port.
finall of installation it asks cable connected, if tick and it is searching and no phone connected in usb port.
3) after install driver software no indication in programm file
but showing when see thro add/remove program in control pannel
showing nokia dku-5 connector.
4) phone showing data enchancement connected whenever cable connected and pc also showing new device connceted in usb port.
it asking where is the software. if we check installed area it show as .inx file whereas pc asking inf file.
how to use phone with this problem
 
I had also trouble with connecting an 3100 to the pc with an USB cable.

But an solution is the next:

1. Shutdown your phone

2. Connect the cable to the phone

3. Power up you're phone

This should also work. But if i were you, buy an serial datacable. That works always.
 
I had a really bad time doing my usb nokia 3100 one

i found, installing the drivers from the disk (even though it says unconnect phone even if it is)

go onto OXYGEN phone manager

add new connection, make it COM 5, because that was mine so i presume USB is that, and bam it should find your phone

if not sorry i don't know
 
rename the .inx to .inf and try again it would be interesting to see what happens.

and always buy a serial cable not a usb. there is less hassle when setting it all up
 
I have both the Nokia 3100 and a dku-5 cable I got off of ebay (non-oem). I have had problems connecting it to my computer also, the problem I had was that the cable was loose when it was conneceted to the phone, a little bit of wiggling made it work fine. So try that out and see if the problem fixes!
