I connected our outdoor arial to the TV Antenna/Cable input on the back of the receiver? Does anyone know how to tune in and view the over air signals?
We'll also be going HD in a month. Any suggestions on how best to get into HD programming?

when I still had cable, I ran it into the back of my 5900 in order to 'mix' the cable in with the sat channel 3 feed.

The TV/Video button on the remote essentially turns the video feed from the Satellite on or off when you have the satellite ird connected through coax cable

kind of like a TV/VCR button

Thanks for the replies.
I can't find any settings in my 3100 that indicate local settings. The TV/Video button does do something, but all I get is static when it's pressed. But when I remove the antenna cable from the reciever and just plug it into the TV, I can see the over-air channels clearly.

Yeah im trying this as well, i just purchased a 32'' RCA and im doing the same thing im plugging the antenna cable from the satellite directly into the TV and scanning channels on the tv but i cant find any...Anyone lead me in the proper way..I was read the FAQ's but never really found an answer...I Have the 4100 Reciever

The 3100 has no OTA or cable TV tuner. To tune local channels from antenna, you put the receiver in bypass mode or off, and use the TV tuner to tune your local/cable channels.

Check out this thread about OTA with satellite receivers:

Thanks for the Reply!! Reading through most of the reply's there on that thread but there really isn't a good explanation about what im inquiring about. Which is Do i plug in the actual "white" cable running from the actual disk to the receiver? Or the black coax cable running from the receiver and plug it into my Digital Antenna input? then scan?

u need a 6100 or 9200 reciever to scan ota channels there the only one that do that

What if i Connected the cable running from the dish, directly into my Digital Antenna input? Would that work
