30-tooth/70-tooth for '09 RKC

Does anybody have the 30/70 combo on an '09 or later FL?

Bobby Woods told me to go 30/70 before I do any motor upgrades (96"-103", heads, cams, etc)

'06 was last year for 70 rear pulley.

He did say to go with the Woods 5-6 if I stayed with stock gearing, but if I went with 30/70, then I could go to the 555, even with stock heads and everything else on a stock 96". Imagine this gear combo on a high compression 103" or Fuel Moto's 107"!

Going to 30/70 means going from 2.85 to 3.15 overall.

I'm interested to see if belt will still work, and what about speedo/ cruise control/ 6th gear indicator? TTS Mastertune might work all these issues out, but will anything else?

Not quite the same thing, but I have recently revised the gearing on my old '90 Glide (with S&S 107) from stock 2.94 to 3.37. Gives me almost 15% increase in torque at the rear wheel, or in your case just over 10% increase. With the high gearing Harleys have these days, that sounds a great move to make with an '09.

I have a 2008 and change the front from a 32 to a 30 and it seems too pull out easier.and the cruise and sixth gear light work fine. But it did throw off the speedometer about 2-4 mph and i didnt figure it was a big deal until we rode to sturgis this year and when we got home my bike had 300+ miles more than my buddies. So i dont know if i want to buy a speed recalibrator or just go back to stock.I have a fairly big engine now and dont really need the pulley.

I was just looking into this the other day.I did find out that the new TriGlides come with a 30t trans pulley and a 70t final drive pulley with a 139 tooth belt. The front pulley will bolt on but I do not know if the rear pulley will. I called the local HD Dealer and they didnt know if it would retro fit an '09 Touring.Maybe someone on the forum has some info on this combo.

I'm interested in this for my 08. I asked Dawg a couple of questions and it seems like it'll work fine, but I also need to know how to recalibrate the speedo.

...does Tri Glide have same cush drive/IDS damper in between things out back, that seems to be the biggest issue.

Where there's a will, there's a way. This is the USA. I'm not the only one trying to make this happen. A couple of service guys at my local shop (Iron Steed HD in Vacaville, CA) are helping lookin' into this for me, saying, "Shit. I'm gonna have to get this for my bike too if we can make this happen for you and there goes more money."

It's just a matter of somebody tooling it to make it work and who knows? It might catch on when people ride a bike with this set up and the gears feel so right when you twist the throttle.

I think it's all about gettin' around that cush drive at this point, probably eliminating it altogether. I talked to a few guys who said they know they'd like their FL ride better without that damper back there anyway.
