$30,000 for a 2010 Toyota Prius = Worth it?

My wife is in the market for a new car. We were looking at the Prius for obvious reasons and because she liked the looks of the 2010 with the sunroof.

Once the salesman told us the final cost -before- taxes and tags is about $29,500 I nearly laughed at him. The MSRP is roughly $22k and there are four or five different levels. If you want the sunroof, you HAVE to go with the Prius level IV or V which also includes every other added cost in the bundle.

I made an excel file and did some rough calculations with rather inflated gas prices. It would take her about 10 years to save ~$10,000 in gas costs. Suffice to say she doesn't drive THAT much. I feel like if I'm going to be shelling out that much money for a car that I should get her a fully-loaded civic or something and save ten grand.

Am I being unreasonable?
That's how I feel, too. If I'm going to be spending that much money, I feel like I should be buying her a Lexus or an Infiniti!
I guess I should start doing my homework on Camry hybrids...she has expressed interest in those as well.

She needs a sunroof, so any suggestions in the $25k-$27k range AFTER taxes and tags would be preferable. We live in Downingtown, PA.

i don't think 30k for a prius is worth it. in this economy, you can get a hybrid for a cheaper price, especially with all these car companies dropping their prices. look around a bit more, at different car sales lots. you should be able to find a new civic for almost half the price (depending what area of america you like in).
