I know we all have three year olds but mine seems to have short circuited over the past couple of months and I don't know if I am helping or hurting the situation.
1. He has become impossible at bedtime. He want me to lay with him for HOURS!! If I don't he screams at the top of his lungs and kicks and trashes his room. He has always had sleep issues but he seems to realize that Other people in the house (his baby sister and his father that has to go to work) are sleeping and he knows that I want him to be quiet. I know that I am reinforcing this screaming thing, but like right now. He is in his room screaming his head off, I don't care if he wakes his sister now and his daddy is at work... but how long is too long to let it go on. And I'm concerned that if I go in now I will only re-reinforce that if he screams I'll come running.
2. He will say I want milk I get him milk and he says he wants juice so I go get juice then he screams that he wants milk. He does the same thing with the tv, he will want it on/ off. He does it with everything actually,
3. The whining and crying!!! It has to stop I just can't take it from the minute he gets up until he goes to bed and sometimes in his sleep he is whining and crying, I try to be calm , I try to redirect him, I have tired bribing him and it just doesn't stop.
I am so tired of jumping through hoops with him and I don'twant his 1 year old sister to do the same thing.
I try the super nanny thing with the naughty stool and he screams at me from across the room. My husband thinks there is something wrong with him, but I know it is all learned behavior, he is very bright and has learned to jerk me around.
I just need help getting out of this spiral.. Anyone out there, can you help
I want to enjoy him because he is such a sweet little boy when he wants to be.
