3 questions on usb wireless adapters?

first of all i want to use a usb wireless adapter for internet my neighbor has comcast and on my laptop it goes a 1 MB per second when downloading movies

i saw the usbs in the store and online but im confuse i see two types that say 150Mbps and the other says 300Mbps

does this mean the usb wireless adapter can go only 300 KBs a second when downloading a movie

also what does 2.4 ghz mean i have look everywhere online but it dont make sense to me

lastly how do i find out how far can a usb wireless adapter can go or do u just find the answers by looking if its g, n or n+
