3 Lawyers ina custody battle, Unfair Trial?

Im going for custody of my son, and His grandparents from his mother side want custody because they have grown to attached, well there daughter signed her guardianship over to them and had obtained a lawyer (and the grandparents also have one too). Anyways we went to the special proceedings, and His mother and her parents had both of there lawyers there, The grandparents were the only ones to go up on stand (for there side), My sons mother never took the Stand at all, yet her lawyer was in there asking questions, I dont believe this was very fair at all, especially since my side (defendant) was getting hammered on by 2 lawyers, Is this an Unfair Trial? And If so, what can i do regarding it?
Yes i do have an Attorney, and well yes I know i was going to get hammered on lol, but if His mother signed her guardianship rights over to her parents, what place did her lawyer have in there At all? My lawyer had said it wasnt fair. but she didnt have much else to add to it either. So I was hoping to get some more opinions on the matter.
 
The child's mother need not take the stand.

Of course you're going to get 'hammered.' It's a custody battle. Litigation is an adversarial system.

Sounds like you don't have an attorney. Get one.
 
Mothers don't have guardianship... they have PARENTAL RIGHTS. Not the same thing. My question would be how/why the court allowed mom to relinguish her rights (IF that is actually what she did), without any attempt to determine where you were?
It does depend on the state.. and many things (ie if you were not married, if she attempted to get child support from you, if you knew about the child in order to sue for custody before).
A parent CAN sign TEMPORARY rights to a grandparent, without giving up their full parental rights. With the first one, the parent has the right to come back and (attempt) to regain custody. With the second, they have no rights at all. If she only did the first one.. then she would have reason to be involved in any custody decision. That would explain why the grandparents have a lawyer, and she also has one.
Because it may be that there still are 3 parties involved in determining what rights they have.
