If he's there if you need him, I wouldn't fret. I'd just want to know for sure at some point that I was fully fused. Will you be able to get a CT scan at 6 months to a year post op to be sure?

I just came back from my surgeon and he has released me. I was curious if anyone else was finished going to the doctor this early? He said if I have any problems to call but I am done going back for check-ups.

I am doing well, and they took x-rays and I am fusing.

Thanks for any replies

No, he basically just said if I have any problems to call. I thought he'd want to see me in at least a year. I was wondering if any other orthopedic surgeon's did that. Apparently not??

Thanks for your response Emily! I talked to you when I first had my fusion done and appreciate your willingness to help!

Yes, I remeraber you. Isn't it good to be on the other side of surgery? :)

Maybe you can just call him at some point and ask him if he'll order a CT scan for you.

I had a 2 level fusion as well , lurabar area. I was operated on in Feb 2008 , and i still see my doctor.. Each doctor is different , but i was having check up's even after the 8 month period.. My doctor made me have a ct/scan about the 6 month mark , just to make sure that i was fusing.. I'm glad that you are starting to fuse , awsome news..

GOOD LUCK !!!!!`!!!!!

DEv

Yes it's nice to be past the first weeks after fusion surgery!

Thanks for the input about calling my doc. When did you have all of your X-ray's and/or CT scans? I know you had a very difficult surgery, so you probably need more care then I do, but I'm very curious. Thanks!

Hi StillinPain,
Yes, I started PT at 6 weeks for 1 month, then I was finished.

I'm sorry you have some pain and nurabness. I don't have pain, but I do have some nurabness, where is your nurabness?

Do you still have restrictions? Thanks for the reply!

Thanks for the reply Dev!

How are you feeling? Has your pain been resolved? I have some achiness and burning sensation if I do too much, but otherwise I'm doing well.

Hi joannamarie, I also am 3 1/2 months out from L4/L5 fusion and decompression, I am still seeing my doc and will have a 6month check-up, I am having some pain still and nurabness so maybe that's why. He did say I wouldn't be fully fused until like a year , I haven't even started my Pt yet. Did you do PT?

I still see my surgeon every 6 months so he can continue to prescribe my Vicodin. It's really not necessary. He's just a very committed doctor who loves what he does and wants the best for his patients. He's doing this so that he can continue to document for me for disability. I'll be reevaluated for disability in three years, so he's willing to keep seeing me. If it weren't for that, I would have been officially discharged at about 1 year post op.

I love my doctor! He's my hero!

Oh that's great Emily that you have such a good doctor.

I like my doc too, but I feel scared to be released so soon. I know all I have to do is call, so I shouldn't fret. right?!

Thanks for the reply!

sorry so late replying, had alot going on, finally started PT, will do this fro 6 weeks, my nurabness and tingly is on the inside of legs from buttocks to toes, 1st and 2nd. still seeing my surgeon also and now I am almost 4 months out

My daughter had a two level fusion with decompression in June of '05. She is now 20 but her pediatric orthopaedic surgeon still checks her every 9 - 12 months. She sees him in a few weeks. cas
