2WD Ford F-250 Powerstroke Turbo?

I was wondering what people thought about 2WD's and who really needs them? I am 16 years old and I work on my dad's farm in Kansas. I am looking to buy a 1997 Ford F-250 Powerstroke Turbo Diesel with 81,000 miles on it for $9,000.(It is a 2WD) I do have a 4X4 for the farm to drive around this will just be my school truck. I was wondering does a 16 year old really need a 4X4. The only thing I am worried about is the getting stuck in snow or getting into a wreck. My dad has had a F-150 2WD forever, so I thought if he can get by then I should right? Plus those Diesels sit up higher right??? Just wanted to know what other people thought. Thank you!!!
