After the surgeries, i was significantly improved. I still had pain, but it was nothing in comparison. Now, 3 years later, i did something stupid and lifted something, it wasn't heavy, but it was heavier than garbage. I also carry a semi heavy grocery bag every week as i walk to the store. a few days ago i woke up with NEW tight horrible pain down my leg , foot and toes. I have had plenty of leg pain on a continuous basis, but not like this at all. I have had several steroidal injections and one nerve block with no success. This pain has been lingering for 3 days now from my low back all the way down and as soon as i get up in the morning i sturable and limp b/c of the pain and weakness in my leg and foot. The most pain i feel is the hind quarters of my leg and right in the foot when i step on it. :( The doctor said that if/when this surgery gives in that i'll need a fusion and can't even do a discectomy again b/c of all the damaged tissue. He damaged alot in the process of getting to my discs.

I am so scared and i am looking for work right now. That is very difficult when you have a limp. I try to hide it, but i'm sure it's noticeable. I don't know what my next step is. Could it be temporary, could it be a blood clot? This depresses me so much because it has been an ongoing battle and i am only 29.

I meant to add that i have called voc rehab and have had a physical evaluation to see if i can get any assistance, but with the way economy is now they have to be picky and i doubt they'd consider me to be someone on the top of their list, considering there are people with many worse conditions.

You may be able to goto your dr, and see if he'd give you a depo medrol dose weaning pack (5 days of steroiRAB in lower doses each day starting at 20 mg), and see if you get some relief, alot of inflammation back there can cause those symptoms too, what the CAUSE of the inflammation we don't know yet considering your history but, that may indeed help you, and some muscle relaxers too??

If you are unable to goto the dr because of money, I would call your local hospital and look into charity care, which is by county state funded, you apply and work on a sliding or sometimes fully free medical care.

Even a steroid injection in your back if this is persisting may be of benefit, even if to just get you over the hump for the limp, and pain to get a position somewhere.

I would also take anti inflammatories if you can depending on your health and other meRAB you take, and either try alleve which worked well for me years ago, it lasts 12 hrs in your system, or ibuprohin even for inflammation and see if that helps you too.

Hope you're feeling better!
