2700 - problem with NHL centre ice programs

Often times I won't be home for a game or whatever, so I will leave my satellite set to the right channel and set my vcr to record it....now the problem is there is an intermittent problem where sometimes the game tapes...and sometimes it is just a black screen.

I've gone through numerous vcr's and definitely know it is not it. As one time I was able to test this and what seems to happen is I guess the scheduled program won't connect. It will work if I for instance scroll one channel up and then return back to the channel I wanted to tape (but that defeats the whole purpose of the vcr as I'd need someone to check on it every bloody time).

I'm not sure why this is a problem, but it is. I know it's definitely not the vcr though. I was wondering if anyone else has come across this problem or if you have any suggestions?

It's a bit annoying and quite a ripoff to being paying $200 for a service that can't be relied upon.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If it's the "home games" you are not getting are you sure the game is not blacked out for you on centre ice?

When a game is blacked out on NHLCI because it is shown in your local region BEV blacks out the channel on NHLCI and instead requires you to tune to the normal channel that is showing it. So if the game is on TSN you would not be able to viewit on the NHLCI channel but instead would have to tune to channel 400.

I'm not sure what the problem is, but it is not your 2700 receiver. I've experienced the same thing on my 6100 receiver. For me, I know that I am not being blacked out because they are Anaheim games I am trying to record. I have read something that says some programs will black out if they can read that it is being recorded, but I don't know how that would work. I think it might be a problem with Expressvu's timers.

It's definitely not black out either. I live in BC and I pretty much get it to watch Leaf games.

Changing the channel and recalling back fixes the problem, sort of 'refreshes' the channel or something I guess. I'm wondering if it is the receiver or whether it's Bell's doing.
