Ok I'm 27 weeks pregnant and 42 yrs old. Let me first give a small background I have competed in BB and Figure and also a Certified Personal Trainer and well aware of diet and fitness. OK let my rant begin LOL - I went for my check up yesterday and have gained 5lbs since last visit . Now mind you I did not gain a thing last visit . My starting weight at pre-pregnancy was 127lbs and as of yesterday it was 141lbs at total gain of 14lbs . Well, my Dr. freaked that I gained 5lbs and said at this rate I would be 170lbs ???? OMG I thought I was going to cry . She then told me to drop my carbs to 25gs and up my fats WAY up and eat A LOT of cheese and eat deviled eggs ???? Its not the fat making me fat its the carbs !!! Well I got into a HUGE debate about this and told her I took her advice on the cheese and thats where I got into trouble & upping my fat . So I basically asked her " I'm on a baby competition date " she said yes but upping my fat !
I KNOW my body and what works for me and what will be healthy for my baby. I'm still weight training 5 days a week and doing cardio ... YES I do have more muscle mass and yes I still could be adding muscle - No good job from Dr. just a bunch of negatives ! I'm so mad I could scream .
Oops I meant " Baby competition Diet " I'm so mad I can't spell LOL !
Thank you everyone ! I really thought I was going crazy and have spoken to 2 of my bfs who are trainers and competitors and said this is nuts ! I TOTALLY understand about the fats BUT there are better ways to incorporate them . NOT DEVILED EGGS !!!!
"Justme" - Thanks
Yes I was " high risk " because of my age but have gone through all of the major tests and everything fine
. My Dr. is a female - when I had my 1st child 8 yrs ago I went to a male Dr. and NOT once did he have an issue with my weight gain and I gained 22lbs total.
"Skatin" Thanks
- I think you read wrong though I'm not early in my pregnancy LOL I'm 27 weeks . Yes I did start with a lower than norm b/f and actually my weight gain is on target through my pregnancy . I'm sorry you've had a rough go of it hang in there and you will be training again . Enjoy your pregnancy
