I am a resident of Illinois but have been going to college in Tennessee for 3 years. I am still considered a resident of Illinois so I could stay on my dad's healthcare(and since I'm a student). I didn't plan on coming to Tennessee and getting pregnant, but it has happened. I'm having a little boy in February. I'm 20 years old and have no clue where to go for the baby's healthcare. The father is still on his parents healthcare since he is also a student and neither of our parents healthcares extend to grandchildren( i didn't think it would anyway). In order to be eligible for TennCare Medicare in Tennessee, I have to be a resident, but if I do that I am taken off my dad's healthcare and once I have the baby he will be insured through TennCare, but they could easily kick me off. I have a job and so does the father but not nearly enough to cover private health insurance. I feel like I've exhausted every option. Please any suggestions? I would just like my baby to be safe and not have to pay an arm and a leg.
Thank you!
