My son is 22 yrs. old. He exhibits signs of schizophrenia. To be more specific, he believes that I poison his food, strangers are out to kill him, any bad thing that happens in the course of the day is the result of me talking negatively about him.
He's self medicating with drugs and alcohol, I don't know how to help him. Any advice on how to start? He's a great kid with a big heart, but he just can't get over his obsessions. He is refusing help and he's now facing legal issues. Please help me help him before it's too late!
@ Stephen, thank you for your response. I don't feel guilty for anyhing that saves him. Even if that means calling the police. I only want to avoid that avenue, if possible. Based on your response, I don't think that will be a comfort that I will experience.
