2010 street glide set up

I have a 2010 street which has high flow air cleaner v&h dual dressers and bassani mufflers with 2" baffles running a se racetuner. I went to bike shop and was thinking of upgrading engine to 106" s&s with 585 cam and they said the dual dresser sensors are too far back and need to be closer to heads and that i should get rid of racetuner and put an auto tuner like thundermax on it before i start any upgrades to engine. Really can't afford getting rid of my tuner since i paid alot of it only 6000 miles ago. Was he right ? Need advice!
 
Every tuning system on the market has someone who thinks it's the best way to go. Most will get the job done IF the mechanic knows how to work with them. IF you find a mechanic who has a great reputation as a tuner, follow their advice - they will push you towards what they work best with.

PC-V, SERT, TTS Mastertune - all will do a good job in the hands of a good tuner. If the shop that's going to build your engine doesn't have a dyno AND a good dyno tuner, you'll need to take it to be tuned elsewhere.

The sensors can be moved - not sure if they NEED to be.

Finally, realize that engine builds almost always take longer and cost more than you planned for - and going cheap is almost always the most expensive route. Speed costs - how fast do you want to go?

I know a guy who ended up with nearly as much in his engine as it cost to buy the bike new....
