I just purchased my first "nice" road bike (compared to an old steel Fuji with gear shifters on the frame) -- the Specialized Allez Sport. I broke it in this weekend around a lake for about 10 miles and it was great. My only complaint is that the shifters on the left side can be a little rough when I'm at a stand still and want to shift. Also, the seat -- but that's cosmetic.
I have until the end of this week to decide if I want to keep it or return it, and it's got me wondering about the Elite with the Shimano Tiagra parts.
Considering I'm new to the biking work and just spent $820 on the Sport, would it be wise to shell out a few more hundred for the Elite? I think it's priced at $1200?
I'm mainly going to use it as a recreational activity I do on days where I have time to take it out to different riding trails. I would like to keep it a weekly thing, but I'm not planning on joining any type of cycling events just yet.
