I agree with Kristin...love her to death but it was painful to watch her and the entire broadcast. Trying way to hard. I felt embarrassed for Jeremy Renner when she was in the bomb suit talking to him.

And I too wasn't thrilled with the Best Actress wins. I haven't seen An Education, but just by looking at the trailer, you can tell that Carey Mulligan is amazing in the film.

Firstly, the entire awards show was an absolute mess and almost painful to watch. Kristin is amazing and she just bombed last night. She had awful material and awful producing and couldn't make it work and I think she knew it. That being said, everything else about the show was awkward too, except for Zachary Quinto - his bit was super cute and well done!

As for the awards themselves, I abhor how the BFCA use their show simply as an Oscar prediction game. It pisses me off. And if they were really taking themselves seriously, they would have given Best Actress to Carey Mulligan. She about swept the individual critics awards. Don't get me wrong, I love Meryl and Sandra to death and think they are two most perfect women on earth for the most part - but their roles aren't deserving of the Oscar this year over Carey. So while their bit was cute and adorable and I'm happy for them - I want Carey to get the actual Oscar.

Supporting roles are locked and I love it and think they are deserving and wonderful.

Jeff Bridges probably did an amazing job (seeing Crazy Heart on Monday), and he IS long overdue. But the role/movie seems so cliche to me. Plus Colin Firth was a REVELATION in A Single Man. Why is he not hardcore in the running for the WIN against Clooney and Bridges?! Baffling.

SO SO SO happy for Kathryn and the Hurt Locker. Screenplays too.

ETA: jackiehydelover - I, too am looking to get into the film industry as a woman and Kathryn's win had me choked up and I almost cried but I'm going to try and save it for the big night. I really think it'll happen. Then I'll cry my eyes out.

really no surprise in these 2 categories....look for these 2 winners taking home academy awards....:)

best actor:

jeff bridges - 'crazy heart'

best song:

"the weary kind" - t bone burnett, ryan bingham - 'crazy heart'

I pretty much and agree with all the winners (even though I haven't seen them! haha)....

The show was kinda boring until Sandy Bullock got up there and cussed..haha! You know the censors were like "oops!" I guess they weren't expecting their best actress winner to say BS on TV.

And I'm normally a huge Cheno fan---but man the stuff they had her do was so lame.

My thoughts...

I pretty much called all the winners except Kathryn Bigelow and The Hurt Locker. I'm absolutely thrilled that they won because I really think that she and The Hurt Locker are the most deserving. I was in tears when she won. Being a woman that is trying to get into an industry that's mainly a boys club, seeing her win has given me hope. She is the first female to win this award! Can you believe it? Hopefully the Oscars will give it to her as well.

I called Christoph Waltz to win the Supporting Oscar back in August so I'm happy that he won this.

My only major beef is that the little girl in Brothers should have won over Saoirse Ronan. She was amazing in that movie. If you haven't seen Brothers yet, you're missing out. I swear, she steals that movie away from Tobey, Natalie and Jake.
