I put the fuel moto head pipe on my ultra a few weeks ago. I had it jet-hot coated before the install, and put it on with the stock mufflers. I noticed an immediate change in the sound. It is less muffled and the exhaust notes sound more distinct. It is slightly louder and perhaps slightly deeper. I rode it that way for about 2-3 weeks and it ran just fine, with no evidence to suggest it was too lean. It also made some difference in performance. I ride 2-up with the wife almost exclusively and we like it quiet. I'm still interested in more power, so I just installed a fuel moto air cleaner and pcV and am collecting the needed items to install the 255's I picked up on ebay.
Besides setting the stage for future performance modifications, the main thing I was after was a reduction in heat, and it has made a huge difference. Very noticably cooler and it was well worth it.
