2010 2 into 1 head pipes - bargain basement price from HD?

For some reason MOCO stopped producing stock tourers with 2 into 1 headpipes and now offers the 2 into 1 separately as a "new product" for only $250, complete. Wonder why?

As a 2010 FLTRX owner, I know that the CAT literally roasts the right leg at stoplights and keeps the butt warm all the time. I also know that my SE Nightstick (SuperTrapp) is blued to damn near black at the pipe-to-muff joint and now has a dark blue ring around the actual exhaust exit itself.

This happened even though I had a Stage 1 flash along with the SE air cleaner and muff installation prior to delivery and the bluing was a mess before the 1000 miler too.

Anyone else notice this "feature"? If so, have you been able to either tune the SuperTrapp (adding/removing discs or going to an open end-cap) in any way that helps reduce heat?

I realize that the CAT can be carved out but don't know if the stock ECM (even with a Stage 1 flash) could handle the increased air-flow safely. Has anyone tried this or has everyone just bought new headpipes and tuners instead?

Frankly, I think MOCO brought the 2 into 1 and SE Nightstick into production without even trying them out first.

Have carved out the Cat and added a 4 inch Rinehart slip-on, Ness big sucker 1, Power Commander V. Tremendous reduction in heat and just the right performance gains without going into the motor.
