Your right, the Ford does look better. But it's still a V8 & drinks more fuel than a Cummins. Dodge has redesigned their trucks for 2010. But b/c of the delays, I don't think we'll see the HD line up until after the new yr. The Cummins is a straight 6 design that is just a mini version of the ones used in semi trucks. They have a better torque curve at lower rpm's & that's why they get better mpg's. The one thing that will be nice in the 2010 models is they have finally made available a factory installed trailer brake control. Chevy & Ford have had those for the last couple of yrs. But Cummins engines are simply bullet proof. They last forever if taken care of & I hear all the time about their ability to go 1 million miles w/o a rebuild. Now that is quality. Ford had big time issues with the 6.0L engines from a few yrs ago. I think that really damaged their reputation a bit. Also, if you plan to tow a 12K trailer, then you really don't need a 1 ton. A 3/4 ton will do just as well. I wouldn't bother with a dually unless I was gonna tow all the time & not just occasionally. A dually will be fine for daily hauling such as a farmer would do. The lateral stability makes a dually worth owning, but only if the 5th wheel was a bit top heavy.
