So I'm on the verge of getting a new car but can't decide which. I currently have a 2003 Corolla, and it handles the road very horribly ie: too noisy, feels like its going to fly off the road @ high speeds, literally tossed around while going over bumps, choppy ride.

Now, I was wondering if the new 2009 Corolla remedies all of it's past faults (I can't drive to a dealer because of distance.)

XRS model offer: $24k
Lexus IS250: $33k

The difference doesn't matter too much for me. I'm going to be keeping the car until it dies on me.

Can anyone help with advice? Thanks in advance!

It looks like the lexus is better and usually they are a lot smoother ride, but the acceleration on both is pretty horrible (206 HP for the lexus). If you're willing to pay the 33k there are plenty of better cars out there (like the nissan maxima) that are in that price range that offer good acceleration and a smooth ride.

best bet buy a one year old dealer car, new but not the huge mark up, and upgrade to a nicer car, the corrolla drives terribly, and the lexus is the same car with heated seats and a more rickety, but smoother drive train. The cost of fixing the lexus is something to be aware of. One year old dealer certified will go a long way. but between the 2 i say look at a mazda :-)

Think green!!!
and why not lease A Mecedez and get a new one every
24 months same cost either way and eventually all of us will be driving a hybrid built inside anyway that way you have a new car e very other year and you dont have to hassle
the selling crap its not worth most peples time now adays.
you dont or wont get much more use or cost savings but you get to A and B in style and status of having everyone see you drive the style ride new every other year. They tout savings paying ouright but you end up with a old peice crud no one wants with high mies you spend all that time cleaning and polishing the slug until it sells hassle haslle hassle.
lease it like all us rest and your not getting out paying
a car payment ever anyway. cause of planned obsolescense
the car company make flawed cars than are timed to fall
into disrepair after eight years they are trash and the dealers dont want them on their lots past five years old cause they
are unloaded to a wholeseller selling to people who cant get credit that pay 21
% or mre % interest on crap 1000000 mile cars over six or more yrs old.
Trust me lease the most car for the least payment like a accord honda 199 a month pretty much layed out leather and well appointed the lexus is fine too leased its in the 359 area
with decent fico score youre in. get a decent 4000 down
together and lease the cheaper accord its a steal and it sips gas.
lexus get aroun 19 mpg city 24 real in the road
no one smart keeps a car till it dies on them due to ill repair.
most smart guys never keep a care oer 100k miles on it
thats when all the parts start breaking the fuses burnout and the a/c goes and the motor starts to eat timing chains and the alternator goes dead
the batteries die every five years the tires every three
the gass tank fuel lines leak in four years usally.
get rid every two let the problems goto the next owner on the dealer dime. own new every two
lease with 12k miles available on a open end lease not a closed end lease and get them to tosss in the maintenace or half the maintennce contract oo. they need to deal
they are hurting to get rid of 2007 and left over 2008 models 120 days of stock on the lots now and no oes buying.
we are in a recession and in august the 2009 models are coming to the full lots
the only got three months to sell the whole 120 days worh before the 2009 models have to hit the roads
the lots are full look for your self
cheers

I've driven the xrs but not the lexus. I can say the xrs is a way too firm, but it does feel very solid and confidence-inspiring. Its feels almost like a VW GTI I would get it if it wasn't for all the potholes in my area.

if you can afford it, go with the Lexus. I've been in one and i thought the ride was pretty good.

IS250 if you want luxury, comfort and a bit of performance

XRS is basically a sedan version of the celica as in same engine drivetrain etc ...

Im not so sure about handling/comfort
