I just got a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix (not the GXP) and it has 32,000 miles. I've had it for almost 2 weeks and I've had no problems. Today I was driving when all of a sudden the dash went out. The DIC said I had low fuel (even though I had just fueled it and I knew I wasn't) the RPM gage, MPH gage, temp, fuel, all of those gages just stopped, and went to nothing as if it was off. I was still able to give it gas, it was still shifting (at least, to my knowledge). Radio was still working, brakes worked (and they didn't lock up, like when you press on it when it is off and it doesn't come back but the power goes out of it.) I just turned off the highway, parked it, turned it off, and it went away. (Well I had to open the door, cause the DIC still said low fuel and opening the door deactives the battery.)
It was still driving when this happened and all of the other lights were on. It was only the dash gauges that went out. I hadn't been doing anything different than normal when this happened. It is just the standard engine on Grand Prixs. It has a factory installed remote start, and an expanded DIC (with the extra buttons) but other than that, there is nothing particularly special regarding drive. It doesn't have Traction or ABS and no Onstar.
I would really appreciate any clues as to what happened. Sorry for all of the possible useless information, I just want to make sure if someone does know they have the most info possible. It was sudden and out of nowhere. Any clues or help or advice would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks. ^_^
