The live rear axle is tough and ideal for drag racing, but it doesn't really do that well on the bends. Is there some sort of an aftermarket option for an independent rear suspension on a 2008 Ford Mustang?

I highly doubt you want to go through the trouble of trying to do a conversion. The solid axle is actually better for turns than independent. Surprising but that's why all really high performance cars use the rear solid axle. Look at the Viper and Corvette and Charger, Challenger, Camaro even. not really anything better than a solid axle in any situation including a little power. one thing you may try is just getting new high performance shocks and springs and lowering the car .5 inches. That'll probably fix what you arent liking. However, you did not specify where exactly you found a problem.
