2008 Ford Focus, How does the buy back program works?

My 2008 Focus been in the shop since 3-16-09 , they can find the problem they have an open thigh code and shut off all of the sudden.Ford states they do not have a fix for that its a default in the car.
need advice please help if you have any input.
