2007 Yamaha TTR 230- Hard to start- Battery dies before bike will start.?

I recently bought a 2007 Yamaha TTR 230. The seller said the bike probably had around 40 hours of riding on it. When I arrived to pick up the bike, he said the bike had been sitting up for nearly 7 months. He also said he had a hard time starting it, but was able to get it started. When we got home, the bike started up fine, thus it was still warm. A week later, I cranked on the bike for about 15 minutes until the battery died. You would hear at times the engine would sound close to firing up. Finally, I attached the jumper cables, unscrewed the spark plug, put about a teaspoon of gas in the spark plug hole, and the bike fired right up, and after warming up for 5 minutes, ran perfect.... I removed the carb when I got it a week ago, but all I did was sprayed cleaner throughout the carb as best I could... Is there more I need to do? Do I need to get a better carb clean job done? I have been reading alot about all this re-jetting stuff. Is this an option, and if so, does that solve my trouble starting issue? I live in south east Louisiana.. Thanks in advance for all advice!!!
Thanks for the reply. I pretty much did all of that already. I am going to take it to a pro to clean the carbs. I am still thinking it might be a jetting problem.
