What gas were you using? Premium? Chevron, Shell, Arco? They do make a big difference. Also, is your car RWD or AWD?
Also, you may want to check your engine air filter, it may be dirty and restricting the air into your engine for an efficient combustion. After, check your tires to make sure your tire pressure is at 35-38psi. If you know how, i would reset the ECU so that the computer can re-learn the air/fuel mixture of the car.
60 miles per half tank is horrible. For me, half a tank yields me 210-220 miles. I use 91+ octane Chevron & Shell only. I always make sure my engine air filter is clean and that my tires are properly inflated.
I yield around 28-29mpg on a full tank with 5000 miles on the odometer.
