2007 Honda VTX 1300R to 2011 Road King...learning curve? Metric riders?

DUDE!!!! Get on the damn bike and ride it.

Two Wheels? CHECK
Motor? Check

Ride it. As I said before, 2007 VT-750 Aero to 2010 UC, no different than driving a rental car. Get out there and ride it, you WILL enjoy it. Your military? Remember your MSF Rider courses, you will be fine. I am a rider coach here in Naples, I listen to guys him-haw around about how the bike is different, NO, ride it, they are all the same, they all have their idiosyncrasies, but the basics are still the same (Limited Space Maneuvers, Swerves, Weaves.....)

Ride it!
Love it!

Bike was due to be delivered in Oct and I got back in July (09). The dealer did not have the bike yet so I could legally back out out and recieve my deposit back.

I went through http://www.servicecu.org/ , they are offering 4.24% right now.

Went from a 2006 VTX1300R to Ultra. All of the earlier mentioned differences are true, weight, turn signals, kick stand, etc. However, the kickstand kill switch is standard on euro models and can be added to USA models.
One other difference is that the passenger has much more leg room. My wives legs were pushed into her chin. This made UPGRADING much easier to accomplish.
Make the switch and you will never look back.

The biggest "thing" you need to get used to is...a huge amount of respect from Harley riders and just regular folks.
When I ditched my Suzuki Intruder for a Fatboy (12 years ago), suddenly bikers waved back at me and I felt like I was one of them. I could pull inot a biker event and not feel odd or depreciated. There is a BIG difference...you'll see!

I asked about their financing programs and she said they take my info and 4 places compete for the best rate...Service Union was one of them so I am expecting for her to come back with them and the 4.24 % rate. If not I will just go through them myself as I know I'll have no problem qualifying for that rate.

That is actually the best rate I have seen for a motorcycle loan..Pentagon Fed CU and USAA are both around 6.49 %

Thanks for the 411!

Funny you mention that...believe it or not I have had no problem with HD riders here in NH waving to me...in fact most of them wave first! Even when I had my F4i they would wave to me...

That being said I would say not everyone waves but it is pretty evenly split between metric riders and HD's.....maybe peoples arms get too tired...I guess there are more riders per capita in NH than anywhere else in the US of A

Sort of like standing outside of The Officers Club on a base and saluting all day long

Deposit made, counting the days now and shopping already

I make a point of wearing my black leather with the silver/black HD logo across the back when I am on the rice bikes, and wearing my Joe Rocket jacket and full face when I am on the Glide. Nobody has ever said anything to me.

My wife can tell what bike I am taking to the local bike night by what tee shirt I have on.... rice shirt means the Glide, HD shirt means ZRX or ZZR
