I've had this car for a little over a week now, i've noticed once it gets to about 40/50 miles left in the tank the car starts to splutter/jerk once it gets to around 3,000 rpm. When say, i fill the tank, it's absolutely fine, no problems what so ever.

It's been to Ford and they can't find anything wrong with it (typical) so was wondering if anyone has any suggestions?

I could keep topping it up to keep it above 50 miles, but i'd rather get to the bottom of it.

I've had the exact same car before, and it never had this problem

The car is a 1.6 Zetec climate.

oh and i was going to go and buy a spark plug tool so i can check to see if they're ok etc.. does anyone know what size i need?

Many thanks.

well for starts i think you have a dent in your gas tank, this causes you not to get the gas so that may be your problem. and secondly all spark plug tools are the same. but if you want your size just check your owners manuel.

most likely dirt in the tank, or a fuel filter problem. It may even be the fuel pump. It could also be water contamination.

I had a mondeo that suddenly developed the problem and it gradually got better, but never fully went away.
