2007 chevy cobalt stereo?

my brother had told me in his 2008 chevy cobalt that he has to get some kind of kit to put in a aftermarket stereo cause it is hooked to the turn signals etc...is it true for the 2007 too or can i just put the aftermarket stereo in and be good?
