I have a 2006 Grand prix that makes a squeaking/chirping noise when i turn car on. The noise gets faster with acceleration, and after the car is ran or driven for a period of time the noise goes away, until the car cools down again. This presents a problem, as by the time i get to the dealership the noise is no longer evident. I was wondering if anyone might know what this noise may be coming from. I tried a bit of belt dressing on the serpentine belt, and while i spray the dressing the noise stops, but as soon as the steam stops coming out of the nozzle the squeak comes back, and stays. The noise looks like it is coming from the area of the tensioner, but i am not sure, also there looks to be some worn dust, like rubber filings around where the tensioner pulley is located. Car doesnt seem to overheat, goes up to about 200 or so, no further, don't know if it is the belt itself, the water pump, or the tensioner???
don't know if the tensioner needs adjusted, and not sure how?
