You will need a special dipstick and a scan tool to accurately measure the fluid (the trans has to be at the right temp.) Since you probably have the 7/70 warranty on the Jeep, the dealer will probably check it under warranty if you believe there is something wrong with the way it shifts. Good luck.

Any one can tell me how or where can I take my 2006 Jeep Commander to get the transmission fluid checked? I really dont want to go to the dealer and pay for service to get it done. thanks

Go to an all service gas station and put gas in, at least $20.00 and ask if they will check it for you. They will. Or if you don't want to do that, ask at a Auto Zone or other automotive store if someone will see if you need to buy a quart of two of transmission fluid. that you aren't sure how to check it. Then watch what they do when they check it and you will know next time what to do for yourself. That is how I learned.
