the gto is a v8 and a true muscle car but has about 86000 miles on it. the mustang is a v6 pony car but its newer and has only 25000 miles on it. i wont be racing... much... probably lol. whats more important to me is longevity. id like my car to last as long as possible. the pontiac is $500 less than the ford at $14000 vs $14500. i wont have to pay city sales tax on the ford though so it might end up being cheaper still. anyway im pretty sure i should get the mustang but just wanted yalls opinion. is the bada**ness of the gto worth it or should i stick with the mustang?
thanks for the well thought out replies! couple things though....
1. i like the look of 05-09 mustangs for my own reasons so no matter how popular they are, buying one does not make me a conformist.
2. i dont think it will matter how well it holds its value because i plan on driving it until it just wouldnt make any more sense to repair it over just buying a new car. but then the gto being as rare as it is, may even then have those who will want to buy it. i dont know.
3. seems the mustang will be easier and cheaper to fix when needed given its popularity. and that while the original gto is american, this generation of gto are actually australian imports.
4. i dont think the gto is well enough known to turn many heads. its style is also very unassuming from the outside. so the FEW heads i will turn may respect me more, but they will be few.
and with that said, let the voting begin!
