2005 Jeep Wrangler, engine light on when in prestart position?

I have a 2005 jeep wrangler and I know that when you initially turn the key one click to start the jeep the instrument panel runs through the cycle with all the gauges. However when they all go off (and you have not turned the key all the way to engage the starter) the engine light stays on. Is this normal? It does not stay on when the vehicle is being driven which I would assume is a good sign? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
 
This normal. Because you have woken up the engine but until it is started it is not getting its normal signals and will indicate it is not getting them until you start it.
