2005 Dodge Dakota with Check Engine Light on...P0406?

I already know that this code is for the EGR sensor circuit... high voltage. just wondering if this means that the sensor is bad, or if this means that the whole EGR valve needs to be replaced? Does it just need to be cleaned?
