I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota extended cab. I fabricated a box today that will allow two ten-inch subs two fit behind the center console. I am buying these MTX speakers off a friend and a small Kenwood amp. I really need to know if i need the amp to run the subs or i can splice the wires on the back door. But i don't know if i can use the stock head-unit to hook the amp up to. I am very much an amateur at this and i could use your help and maybe even step by step instructions. Thanks a million
I will have to check with my friend but it is a small kenwood amp. I have all the parts to hook it up i just need to know how to deal with my stock head unit---it looks like it could be tough to deal with
The two subs i have are MTX Thunder5500 and are your standard subs and have a 300 watt max range. And as for the kenwood amp i know it can very easily handle these two subs. And where is the RCA cable connected?

well u defenetly need the amp if u want ur subs to hit if u dont want them to bump well u can just hook them up to the door connections but they are going to sound the same as if u didnt had a system at all. Aight if u dont want to remove ur head unit u can buy a RCA CONVERTER they sell them at walmart or any audio store for less than 30 bucks. U hook the rca converter to ur door speakers then from there u run the rca's to the amp its that easy.
