I have somehow managed to get my "Service Traction System" light to become persistent and annoying. I believe it is due to my rather liberal use of the parking brake, as it has become loose (even fully depressed it does not lock or even significantly reduce the speed of the rear wheels). My rotors are also very grooved and warped, causing a pulsation in the car. I don't know if that is relevant, but it is an issue. The light stays on until I restart the car and stays off for a bit (usually until I press the brakes more than lightly while moving). My plan of attack so far is basically to replace the rotors and pads (needs to be done anyway), and tighten the parking brake cable (don't know how though). Does this sound about right? I can't think of any other reason the light would be coming on. And how would I go about tightening the cable? Is it worth it to do myself or is it a pain to the point that I should just have a shop do it?
