2004 Mustang car help?

Hello i recently bought a 2004 mach 1 and want to start modding it. However i dont know much about exhaust, gears, and pulleys. When someone says "catback" and "x-pipe" and "4.30 or 4.54 gears" what are they talking about? Also on exhaust what does 3/8" and 3" and numbers like that mean? thx
