I just bought a 2004 Mazda 6i hatchback car. The car runs great but at times the cars throttle just jumps. When i came to a complete stop the car RPMs was jumping from 1-RPM to about 2.5-RPMs over and over again. Its reeving up and down like its ready to race. My check engine light does NOT come on and there is no trouble code stored in memory either. I know the throttle positioner can cause this but its not sending that problem code or any other code for that matter. Has anyone else had a similar problem with there Mazda. Any suggestions? This has baffled me and my mechanic. Thank for the help...
Thanks for the reply. My car has 65K miles and no mechanical problems can be found.The Mazda dealer has inspected it and so has my machinic with no problems found at all. It doesn't even need a tune-up, lol. The car runs great but maybe once a week it will do this briefly. Anyways i read in a article someone with the same exact problem and the Mazda dealer reflashed his PCM. The problem has never returned back with his. So i will talk to the guys at Mazda and will find out if this works. I will let you know how it goes...
