No difference besides one being newer. 2003-2005 is the prefacelift era. the gen1 mazda6 was facelifted in 2006-2008.
The Mazda6 5-door was introduced for North American market in 2004; so if you want to own the very 1st year of that make.. thats the only benefit. And I suggest you get a Mazda6 5-door (or called the Mazda6 Sport in the rest of the world). Its the only Mazda6 worth getting. 5-door hatchback utility without the look of one.
