2004 Jeep Liberty front drive shaft?

My jeep has been making a loud clicking sound from underneath. I crawled under to check it out and my front drive shaft is what is causing the noise(it is loose and is rattling while i drive). Is it possible to take out my front drive shaft and just drive in 2wd all the time and if it is how could i do this. Thanks

depends on which shaft but sure people do it all time like four bolts or nuts each end 30 minutes work
