2004 Honda Accord Oil Pan Gasket Fell Out?

I took my 2004 Honda Accord EX (4cyl with 93k miles) in this morning for a routine oil change to a shop that's been doing all the repairs and service on my car for the past year or so. The guy I usually work with there is no longer there which I found out this morning when dropping my car off.

I just got a call from the new service rep, and he tells me that the oil pan gasket threading fell out while they were changing the oil. They are telling me that they can do a temporary fix with a 1/2 hour of labor, but that they cannot not guarantee it at all and don't advise doing that. Instead they're saying they should replace the entire pan to ensure no leaks or further issues. The estimate is $260 for a new pan and 2 hours of labor, along with some other minor parts (lubricants and such), which totals to approx $570.

Is this strange?? Anyone hear of this happening?? Are the estimates inflated for NJ? Any quick help/advice would be great! The shop is privately owned and small, but they've always treated me well and I've spent a lot of money there over the past year doing all my maintenance including my 90k service. But for some reason, this all just sounds strange to me and I'm not so sure it's because it's coming from someone who's not my regular guy...
