2004 honda accord 2.4 vtec?

So i just picked up a 2004 honda accord 2.4 liter vtec, and had a question. So i've seen Youtube videos of vtec engines and it seems that the vtech "kicks in" at higher rpms. I haven't noticed this "kick" so can i turn on the vtec somehow?..It's still a fast car and still picks up quite a bit but i was wondering any information..could be an automatic "kick" that i don't need to turn on but like i said i just bought the car and was wondering
