The brakes on my 2004 Ford Ranger are shuddering when you come to a quick abrupt stop at low speeds. It almost seems like the antilock system is kicking in, but I don't think that it is that. It started doing it in the rain so I though it might have been a water problem. It still does it now that it is dry. I beleive it is the front brakes. It almost feels like the pistons are slipping. Any ideas what this is?
The shuddering does not always happen and it only does it at slower speeds. That leads me to believe that it is not warped rotors. If they were warped, wouldn't they shudder all the time?
