i originally thought it was the tires needing balancing, but i did that and the vibration continued. i tend to off road quite often and my friend said to check my u joints. i checked them they looked fine, then i looked at the aluminum drivshaft and it appears to have a maybe 2 - 3 inch dent in it.... would this be causing a vibration of the entire vehicle including the wheel and everything in the car shaking at highway speeds? and if so should i balance to solve the prob or buy a new one?

three things cause a vehicle to vibrate tires need balaced,u joints are bad, drive shaft is not balanceed dents wont help it be they would not make a difference at speeds lower than thirty
