I have a 2004 Trailblazer with 89,000 miles on it. Everything runs great, the only problem is when I turn on my ac there is a vinegar type smell. Can someone tell me what it is, where it comes from and what I can do to fix it? Thanks!
I had a similar problem with my 95 Chrysler. Something has gotten in the ducts and made them stink. In my case it was mice. Those little critters had made a home of the car before I bought it. The AC ducts tend to hold onto foul smells and longer than anything else.
There are products you can buy at the auto parts store. Some mechanics may even offer a sweeping service. All of that can work. You probably will never really get the smell to go away without extraordinary effort. It will get less intense after time, but it will still reappear (especially on very hot days when your car has been sitting).
You shouldn't need to be worried unless you smell a burning smell.
