That would really depend on a lot of factors. Are they racing at the same time, side-by-side? The day, weather, humidity, even elevation of the track plays an important role in determining who has the faster timeslip. Gas octane is another thing to consider.
Are the cars respectively bone-stock? I'm assuming the RSX is used since it's a 2004. Both cars seem to have almost the same curb weight (off by less than 20kg). But a huge difference will be made up through the wheels and tires. You can drop 20kg just from wheels alone... and the tires relate to the cars torque in a way where if the rubber is too soft, it'll slow the car down on a straight stretch... whereas if the rubber is too hard, the car will sit and spin at the starting line.
There are hundreds more things to consider...
But just from a few specs alone (on paper)...
2004 Acura RSX Type S:
- Top speed 233kph
- 0-100 in 6.7sec
2008 VW Golf GTI
- Top speed 238 kph
- 0-100 in 7.2sec
it seems the GTI would (eventually) win because of the slightly higher top speed... although it would take a longgg time and a very longgg stretch of track to gain the 0.5sec (that's equivalent to about one car length at the finish line) difference back that it lost in the beginning. Also, another important note is that the RSX is not boost dependent... with it's higher rev limit, the RSX will eat corners and come out of the apexes in it's power band. The GTI would have to wait for the turbo lag.
Besides, the RSX is a Honda... can't go wrong with that! Hope this helps
Cheers,
Chris.
