2004 Acura RL - Good Choice For First Car?

i turn 17 in a few months and ive been driving for almost a year with a permit. i researched different cars and found the 2004 Acura RL to be affordable luxury. i can only spend about $18,500 which is plenty for a 2004. Right?

Is there anyone that owns one of these? can you name some pros and cons?
 
I have had 2 Acura's in my life. First one was 1996 RL and my 2ND one was a 2001 CL Type S, and I consider them a very dependable ,reliable and sound car that I have ever had, even Better than my Lexus. I think thou as young as you are you would want something little more sporty, like the CL Type S Acura, but if your heart is set on the RL than I say yes, it is a great First Car, because everybody is different and has different taste of what they want. You want Luxury, and that car has it.
 
i say get a cheaper car for your first car, sure the car is real nice but is it really necessary? get a 2004 rsx =) just my 2 cents
 
$18,500 on a car that is long gone from warranty??

All you will see is money going down the toilet. an $18,000 car and a $2000 car will last the same amount of time, you`ll just lose $16,000 on it in the meantime. Plus you will spend big bux on insurance.

The problem with you kids is that you "thinK' you need a new car or you think that 2004 is "old" for a car when in actuality there is a whole lot more out there that you dont even know about like OBD-II upkeep, Finances, what-ifs that may happen, your lack of driving experience, etc.

Find a decent car thats less than $3000, dont finance it, then get your dream car after you have your career established and/or are done with college.

Oh, here`s affordable luxury, 28mpg In town, SAFE free roadside for life and NO computers or tune-ups! only oil changes. and It will last as long as YOU do, unless you live in the rust-belt.
